University of Wyoming Calendar for Aug. 2

These are among the activities scheduled Aug. 2-8 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Aug. 3, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. -- UW students will present research in areas ranging from mathematics to criminal justice and psychology during the UW McNair Scholars Research Symposium, Wyoming Union Family Room. Free.

Tuesday, Aug. 3, 6-8 p.m. -- Wyoming gubernatorial candidates debate, "Pokes Vote 2010," Democrats Pete Gosar and Leslie Petersen will debate from 6-7 p.m. Republican candidates Matt Mead, Rita Meyer, Ron Micheli and Colin Simpson will debate from 7-8 p.m., Wyoming Union ballroom. Free.

Wednesday, Aug. 4, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. -- School of Energy Resources forum on uranium production and recovery in Wyoming, UW Conference Center at the Hilton Garden Inn. Registration is free but seating is limited. To register, go to the Web site at https://www.uwyo.edu/ser/uraniumforum or call (307) 766-2663.

Friday, Aug. 6, 8 a.m. -- Reserved tickets go on sale for the for the Sept. 17 Lynyrd Skynyrd/Dierks Bentley concert. Tickets available at the Arena-Auditorium ticket office and box offices at the Wyoming Union and Fine Arts Center. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.wyomingathletics.com or by calling 1-800-922-9461. Ticket prices are $35, $45, $65 and $125.

Friday, Aug. 6, 1-4 p.m. -- Open house and Tour of UW's Laramie Research and Extension (R&E) Center greenhouse at the corner of 30th and Harney streets in Laramie. Free.
