Tours Highlight Research at Laramie Research and Extension Center Greenhouse

An open house at the University of Wyoming's Laramie Research and Extension (R&E) Center greenhouse is set for 1-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6.

The greenhouse is at the corner of 30th and Harney streets. A welcome begins at 1:15 p.m., and tours start at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow the tours.

The Laramie R&E Center is part of the Wyoming Agricultural Experiment Station in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Some of the research presented during the tours includes:

-- Green roof research and demonstration;
-- High tunnel research and demonstration; 
-- Broadleaf and curly dock seed research;
-- Insect control of Russian knapweed;
-- Forage legumes establishment through seed scarification and companion crops;
-- Fenugreek - a specialty crop establishment in southeast Wyoming;
-- Mapping drought traits in tall fescue;
-- Gene function and predicting plant yield.
