UW Fall 2010 Literacy Education Conference Sept. 24-25

September 10, 2010 — Sept. 10, 2010 -- Kindergarten through high school literacy educators from Wyoming and the Mountain West will receive practical, classroom-based instructional strategies during the fall 2010 Literacy Education Conference Sept. 24-25, at the University of Wyoming Centennial Complex.

Presenters will provide practical, classroom-based instructional strategies that are grounded in recent research and theory in literacy education. The presentations will be geared for a variety of educators, including K-12 classroom teachers; reading/literacy specialists and instructional facilitators; special educators; administrators and supervisors; informal educators; instructional para-professionals and university students.

The conference has two core themes: Reading and writing with understanding and teacher research. Opportunities for conference participants include interacting with national and local experts in the areas of literacy education and action research; exploring and discussing central issues in literacy education, especially with reading comprehension, effective writing and diverse learners; hearing about research projects conducted by local teachers; and gaining valuable information about how to conduct research in individual classrooms.
