These are among the construction activities scheduled Oct. 17-23 at the University
of Wyoming:
Notice: The drive between the Berry Center and the Bureau of Mines Building (9½ Street
alley) will continue to have very restricted access and possibly be closed at times
for Berry Center work.
The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:
UW Tennis Facility (Armory Road across from Little League Complex, scheduled completion: Feb. 15, 2011)
-- The steel building erection will begin this week.
Downey Asbestos Abatement -- Work has been completed on the first floor, along with the fourth through eighth
floors. Work will be focused on the third floor.
Downey Hall Modifications -- The contractor will install damp-proofing foundation walls at the modifications
to the north walk and begin back filling. At the interior of the building, the fire
suppression contractor has started layout on the upper four floors. The electrical
contractor has begun demolition activities and will install temporary lighting.
Visual Arts Center (22nd Street and Willett Drive near the Centennial Complex, scheduled completion is
late fall, 2011) -- Foundation work and new utility excavation will continue during
the week with possible street work for utilities. Relocating utilities will be under
way along with some new utility work. There will be frequent heavy construction traffic
for delivery of materials throughout the week. Be aware that there will be construction
traffic throughout the construction period. Foot and vehicular traffic will not be
permitted across the site. There may be extended workdays and, weather permitting,
there may be work on weekend days.
Education Annex (Scheduled Completion: This fall) -- Installation of art design and related finish
upgrades continues on the second and third floors. All major installations (aside
from the feature wall) are complete. Substantial completion process has begun with
work on punch list items ongoing. Final furniture installation will occur the week
of Oct. 18. Feature wall installation is scheduled for November. Evening and weekend
work is scheduled through October.
Old Albertsons/Osco Deconstruction (15th and Spring Creek streets, increases parking spaces in the south shuttle lot)
-- Final grading is complete. The temporary parking lot will be open for parking Oct.

Summit View Apartment Deconstruction Phase II (South of Willett Drive between Crane and 22nd streets to Arrowhead) -- Deconstruction
and abatement continues. The deconstruction contractor is separating materials for
recycle/re-use where possible. The landscaping buffer along both Willett and 22nd
Street continues and all of the trees have been planted. The entire four blocks are
fenced off, so pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to go around the area.
Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center (Scheduled completion: Fall 2010) -- Lewis Street remains closed from 9th to 11th
streets for contractor staging area. The following work and installations are scheduled
to take place next week: All Floors: Mechanical, electrical and plumbing testing and
start up and clean up, and pre-punch list work.
First floor: Electrical and plumbing trim, mechanical rooms functional testing, painting,
ceiling tile install, electric inspections.
Second and thirds floors: Painting, electrical and plumbing trim, ceiling tile installation,
final cleaning.
Roof: Rooftop unit functional testing, steam heat functional testing, exhaust fan
startup.
Exterior: Landscaping boulders, grading of landscape, sidewalk and front entry, and
new concrete installation in the alley.
Biological Safety Lab, Level Three (BSL3) additions to the State Veterinary Laboratory -- Finish work continues
on the old necropsy area.
Kendall House (Southeast corner of 8th and Fremont streets, is the new home of the Ruckelshaus
Institute and Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources and the
Wyoming Conservation Corps) -- The basement punch list items have started and will
continue over the next few weeks.
The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities for the week:
Coe Library -- The south central stairway in old Coe is being painted. This stairway will be
closed to thru traffic, but will be usable in case of emergency. This project will
take about one more week. Please use the stairways to the east and west.
College of Agriculture Building -- Painting in the main hallway on the fifth floor continues. Use caution around
work areas.
Anthropology -- Demolition at the west end of the parking lot continues to provide ADA (Americans
with Disabilities Act) parking and an accessible pathway to the building. Construction
will continue through October.
Engineering Building -- Replacement of an air conditioning unit in Room 4016 is scheduled for Oct. 11
through Oct. 19. The hallway will remain open, but some noise may be noticeable.
Information Technology Center -- Work at the south main entrance is complete.
Lewis Street -- Several single-family homes between 11th and 13th Streets will be moved during
the next few weeks. Please be cautious of equipment and large trucks in the area as
homes are prepared and moved off their foundations.
War Memorial Fieldhouse -- A lighting replacement project is under way in the fieldhouse. Access to the infield
is being coordinated with the athletics department.
Pharmacy Building -- The broken water main on the north side of the Pharmacy Building has been repaired.
Concrete replacement and cleanup should be complete by Oct. 22. Please use caution
in this area.
Campus -- Irrigation systems winterizing is in progress. Compressed air will be blown through
the piping and may result in some overspray onto sidewalks, streets and driveways.
Please be aware of possible slick spots. The work will continue through October.
