Free Workshop for Childcare Professionals Statewide

March 2, 2011

The University of Wyoming College of Education and UW Outreach School are offering a free one-hour workshop and open house for childcare professionals statewide.

"Professionalism in Early Childhood Care and Education," is led by Tiernan McIlwaine, early childhood education instructor at UW.  It will be offered at UW regional centers connected through the Outreach Video Network.

The workshop is offered in two different sessions to accommodate working professionals' schedules and those who may not be able to attend during the workweek.  Sessions are from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 19.

The workshop and open house give childcare professionals, teachers, current students and other interested individuals a chance to learn about the latest opportunities for online education training and professional development offered by UW.  A discussion on building professional development plans and identifying ways to analyze the quality of care and education also is available.

Participants also are eligible for a one-hour credit of Professionalism STARS training.

Statewide locations for the workshop are in Casper, Cheyenne, Cody, Evanston, Gillette, Jackson, Laramie, Powell, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan and Torrington.

Call the UW Outreach School at 1-800-448-7801 for the sites where the workshops will be broadcast locally, or contact McIlwaine at (307) 286-7746, e-mail tmcilwai@uwyo.edu.
