Website Available for Education Opportunities for Wyoming Youths

May 24, 2011

A website has been developed that serves as a one-stop resource connecting students with Wyoming pre-college programs, opportunities and information.

WYO4ed (www.WYO4ed.org) was developed by the Student Pipeline Committee of the University of Wyoming's Enrollment Management Group, comprised of staff from UW, Wyoming community colleges and the Wyoming Department of Education.

The Student Pipeline Development Committee's goal is to improve the pipeline from K-12 to higher education in Wyoming.

"One of our projects was to develop a website that could be used as a database for pre-college activities in Wyoming and also an informational site for K-12 students and parents to learn about higher education in Wyoming," says committee member Laurie Bonini, UW College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Academic and Student Programs office associate. "Our goal is to target low income, underserved and first-generation populations, but anyone interested in higher education or pre-college activities would benefit from the website."

WYO4ed, a college planning resource for students, parents, and educators across the state, features a searchable database of Wyoming youth camps and programs.

The website is supported by a Challenge Grant. UW administers the $1.5 million Wyoming College Access Challenge Grant that provides funding for 12 different initiatives to assist current and prospective Wyoming college students. The goal is to increase access to and persistence in higher education.
