Powell Research and Extension Center Field Day July 14

July 1, 2011

Tours of trial crop plots and a dinner are part of the Thursday, July 14, field day at the University of Wyoming's Powell Research and Extension Center.

The format has changed this year from morning tours to late afternoon tours and a dinner to allow better access for busy producers.

Registration is 2-2:30 p.m., field tours are 2:30-5 p.m. and refreshments and dinner are 5-6 p.m.

Research topics include high tunnel production, irrigation and drought (corn, alfalfa for hay, sunflower), tall fescue production in the Big Horn Basin, sainfoin production, preplant chemical incorporation in beans, sugar beets, bio-stimulants and cropping systems.

Tours will also be available for the center's new foundation seed building and the UW Seed Analysis Laboratory, which is operated by the UW College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

For more information about the field day, call acting director Axel Garcia y Garcia or farm manager Mike Killen at (307) 754-2223 or email Garcia y Garcia at axel.garcia@uwyo.edu or Killen at mkillen@uwyo.edu.
