The Emerald City Opera perform will perform selected scenes at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in the University of Wyoming Fine Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $7 and are available at the door, the UW Fine Arts box office, the Wyoming Union information desk or online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

The Emerald City Opera is a professional opera company located in Steamboat Springs, Colo. Singers from the company's Opera Artist Institute, now in its fourth year, will perform selected scenes from both traditional and modern operas, including works by Mozart, Bizet, Puccini, Donizetti, Adamo, Menotti and Moore.

The cast includes two faces familiar in Laramie. Patrick Newell is a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dance, and Christina Pezzarossi is a senior music student pursuing a degree in vocal performance.

"The Artist Institute expands Emerald City Opera's reach into the region, as well as increases our mission of education, both to introduce more people to the wonderful world of opera and to help train young singers," says Keri Rusthoi, Emerald City Opera founder and artistic director.
