Public Meeting on Planned Grand Avenue Construction

September 24, 2012

Information about plans to reconstruct a portion of Grand Avenue in 2014 will be presented during an open house from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom.

Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) representatives say it is a drop-in style event and visitors are encouraged to attend any time within the scheduled hours.

According to a WYDOT news release:

“With the 2014 reconstruction of Grand Avenue between 15th and 21st streets, Laramie motorists can look forward to improved traffic flow and increased safety for all, including pedestrians and cyclists crossing Grand.”

The project will include:

-- Widening the roadway on the north side.

-- Installation of landscaped median islands through the intersections at 16th, 18th, 19th and 20th streets, restricting left turns in these locations.

-- An updated pedestrian crossing on 19th Street, making signalized crossings available every two blocks between 15th and 21st streets.

-- ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) access brought up to current standards the length of the project.

-- The city of Laramie's replacement of two waterlines beneath the roadway.
