Members of the University of Wyoming Energy Resources Council (ERC) and the Advanced Conversion Technologies Task Force (ACTTF) will meet Friday, Nov. 16, in Laramie.
Among the agenda items are updates on the Energy Innovation Center as well as progress on implementing the strategic areas of concentration for the UW School of Energy Resources and fundraising. Board members also will review the accomplishments of the School of Energy Resources; the school’s budget for the first quarter of the fiscal year; and the requested 8 percent budget reduction. The Carbon Management Institute also will give an update.
The ERC meeting begins at 8 a.m. at the UW Conference Center at the Hilton Garden Inn. The ERC will meet with the UW Board of Trustees in the Family Room in the Wyoming Union at 9:15 a.m.
Following the ERC meeting, the council will reconvene in the afternoon as the ACTTF in the Conference Center. Among other topics will be a discussion about commercialization, including presentations on successfully completed projects by Ben Phillips, president of Emery Energy, and Larry Baxter, president of Sustainable Energy Solutions.
The ERC, made up of representatives from industry, state government and academia, was established by the 2006 Wyoming State Legislature. It provides direction to the School of Energy Resources on priorities for research and outreach.
The School of Energy Resources provides undergraduate and graduate education; conducts research on existing and emerging energy resources; and disseminates scientific, engineering and economic information to support Wyoming’s near- and long-term energy future.
