UW Faculty Recital Series Continues with Pianist Oct. 6

September 26, 2013

A guest solo pianist continues the University of Wyoming Department of Music fall Faculty Recital Series at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Chin-Chuang Chang will perform works representing various music styles and nationalities, such as Chopin of Poland, Granados of Spain and Liszt of Hungary.

Chang is a professor of piano at National Taipei University of Education. Taiwan’s minister of education selected him as a student of the "gifted child program" to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid. There he studied with pianist Fernando Puchol Solomon Mikowsky.

He earned his M.S. in music at the Manhattan School of Music and his Ph.D. in music arts at the University of Cincinnati. Chang won first prize in the “Franz Liszt” International Piano Competition in Los Angeles, and prizes in the “Ciudad de Manresa” International Competition in Barcelona, Spain, and other international competitions.

The east parking lot, as well as the east entrance to what was formerly known as the Fine Arts Building, is closed. Patrons may enter from the west -- off Fraternity Row or Willett Drive-- and park on the west, north or south side of the building.
