UW College of Education Sets 100th Anniversary Kickoff
The University of Wyoming’s College of Education, which marks its 100th anniversary in the 2014-15 academic year, will kick off a celebration of its centennial with several events Sept. 5-6.
Activities begin with a banquet in the Wyoming Union ballroom at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, followed by a presentation from Interim Dean Michael Day Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. in the College of Education auditorium. A tour of the college’s facilities is set for 3 p.m. Saturday.
In addition, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college will be recognized in a celebration of the teaching profession at halftime of the UW-Air Force football game that begins at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. There will be a photo opportunity on Jonah Field at the end of the game for all College of Education attendees.
“A century of producing and supporting top Wyoming educators, and service to school districts in the state, definitely is something to celebrate,” Day says. “We’re excited to get things started with these events on campus and welcome the participation of our many alumni and supporters.”
A limited number of seats remain for the Sept. 5 banquet; the deadline to buy tickets is Friday, Aug. 22. To do so, email email@example.com or call (307) 766-3145. Reserved seating and reduced-price tickets to the Sept. 6 football game are available for those taking part in the College of Education festivities by calling the Athletics Ticket Office at (307) 766-5750.
Starting later in September, Day plans to travel around the state to host 100th anniversary events in all of the state’s 23 counties. Details of those activities will be announced later.
