Trustees Approve Personnel Items

March 30, 2015

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees approved the following appointments during its meeting Friday, March 27.

Administrative Appointment

College of Engineering and Applied Science

Dean’s Office

Michael Pishko as dean/professor. He received a B.S. (1986) and a M.S. (1987) in chemical engineering, both from the University of Missouri, and a Ph.D. (1992) in chemical engineering from the University of Texas. Pishko has been a professor of biomedical engineering at Texas A&M University since 2012 and director of the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing since 2009.

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Department of Family and Consumer Sciences

Jennifer Harmon as assistant professor. She received a B.S. (2009) in family and consumer science from Illinois State University, and an M.S. (2013) and Ph.D. (2014) in human science, fashion and retail specialization, both from Ohio State University. Harmon has been a teaching assistant/co-instructor at Ohio State University since 2009.

College of Arts and Sciences

Department of Zoology and Physiology

Corey Tarwater as assistant professor. Tarwater received a B.S. (1999) in wildlife, fish and conservation biology from the University of California, Davis, and an M.S. (2006) in natural resources and environmental sciences and a Ph.D. (2010) in ecology, evolution and conservation biology, both from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Tarwater has been a postdoctoral scholar at the University of British Columbia since 2013.

College of Engineering and Applied Science

Department of Atmospheric Science

Jeffrey French as assistant professor. He received a B.S. degree (1992) and an M.S. degree (1994) in physics, both from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, and a Ph.D. (1998) in atmospheric science from UW. French has been the Flight Center director at UW since 2011.

College of Health Sciences

School of Pharmacy

Jed Doxtater as clinical assistant professor. He received a B.S. (2006) in microbiology and medical technology from the University of Montana, and an M.S. (2013) in medical laboratory science from the University of North Dakota. Doxtater has been an adjunct instructor at Casper College since 2011. He will serve as program director of the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program.

College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

Cooperative Extension Service

Jordan McCoy as assistant extension educator. She received a B.S. (2002) in exercise and sports science from UW, an M.S. (2004) in kinesiology from Georgia Southern University, and a B.S. (2010) in dietetics from Kansas State University. McCoy has worked at the University of New Mexico since 2014.

Abby Perry as assistant extension educator. She received a B.S. (2012) in rangeland ecology/watershed management, and an M.S. (2014) in agricultural and applied economics, both from UW. Perry has worked in the UW Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics since 2012.

Jeremiah Vardiman as assistant extension educator. He received a B.S. (2005) in biology and an M.S. (2010) in arts of education, with an emphasis in science, both from Chadron State College. Vardiman has been a research associate for UW since 2012.

Department of Molecular Biology

Kumaran Mani as assistant lecturer. Mani received a B.S. (1994) in medical laboratory, and an M.S. (1997) in medical biochemistry, both from the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, and a Ph.D. (2004) in biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science. Mani has been a non-extended term research scientist at UW since 2010.
