UW Wind Symphony Concert April 25

April 22, 2015

“Saturday Night Crossing: From Classics to Fun” is the final University of Wyoming Wind Symphony concert Saturday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $7.50 for adults and $3 for students. For ticket information, call (307) 766-6666. Tickets also are available at www.uwyo.edu/finearts or at the Performing Arts box office.

Robert Belser will conduct the orchestra in an evening of band music, including the rollicking “Tam O’Shanter”; Debussy’s “The Engulfed Cathedral”; Karel Husa’s “Music for Prague 1968”; Bruckner’s “Apollo March”; and the closing number, Jack Stamp’s “Pastime” -- a salute to the boys of summer.

Also featured will be “Symphony for Winds and Percussion” by UW senior music student Tyler Treacy.

“UW has some incredible students who not only are exceptional musicians but, with mentoring from Associate Professor Anne Guzzo, have become fine composers,” Belser says. “And the Wind Symphony’s principal horn, Tyler Treacy, has written a three-movement symphony for winds and percussion which will receive its premiere Saturday night.”

For more information, contact Belser at (307) 766-3877 or email belserrs@uwyo.edu.
