The Wyoming Counseling Association (WCA) recently presented its J.F. MacNeel Award to Jane Warren, University of Wyoming College of Education Department of Professional Studies associate professor.
The award honors MacNeel, the first Department of Counselor Education head at UW. It recognizes contributions by a Wyoming Department of Education or UW employee, or a UW graduate student.
Warren has practiced as a Wyoming licensed mental health/family and addictions counselor for more than 20 years. A frequent presenter at WCA conferences, she involves her graduate students in these presentations.
Her research agenda and conference presentations have focused on ethics, addictions, wellness and self-awareness. She previously worked as a youth crisis center supervisor and was founder and director of the Laramie SAFE Project. Additionally, she represented Albany County in the Wyoming State Legislature from 2000-08.
