UW Trustees Education Initiative Board to Hold First Meeting

March 2, 2016

The inaugural meeting of the University of Wyoming Trustees Education Initiative Board is scheduled Friday, March 4.

The daylong meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Boyd Conference Room of the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. It is open to the public.

The Trustees Education Initiative Board is composed of trustees, UW administrators, College of Education representatives, Wyoming K-12 educators, first lady Carol Mead, external members and others.

The Trustees Education Initiative was established by the UW Board of Trustees in fall 2014 to “elevate the UW College of Education to national pre-eminent status in professional educator preparation, ultimately to improve and enhance K-12 education in Wyoming.”

The goal of the Education Initiative’s first phase is to produce a strategic plan to transform UW’s entire suite of educator preparation programs. The plan developed and approved by the Trustees Education Initiative Board and the UW trustees would be implemented by the College of Education in the second phase, during 2018-2020.
