April 29, 2016 — These are among the construction activities scheduled May 1-7 at the University of Wyoming:

April 29, 2016 — Kimberly Sanchez, of Cheyenne, who graduated with dual majors in anthropology and Russian, and a minor in the Honors Program, is the recipient of the Rosemarie Martha Spitaleri Award as the University of Wyoming's outstanding graduating woman.

April 29, 2016 — Bluegrass band Greensky Bluegrass will perform Friday, May 6, at 5 p.m. on the University of Wyoming Prexy’s Pasture. The concert is sponsored by 7220 Entertainment and is free and open to the public.

April 29, 2016 — University of Wyoming debate team members Hunter McFarland and Mary Marcum concluded their collegiate debate careers with historic finishes at the national championships.

April 29, 2016 — Joy Williams, University of Wyoming Creative Writing Program Eminent Writer-in-Residence, is the recipient of the prestigious PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story.
April 29, 2016 — University of Wyoming students will present their research projects during “Reimagining the West,” a biennial free public symposium on black life in Wyoming, Tuesday, May 3, at 12:15 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room.

April 29, 2016 — Excellence as a University of Wyoming honors student in physics and astronomy, service as a volunteer, and work as a mentor for other international students have resulted in the selection of Vikram Singh, of Bangalore, India, for the 2016 Tobin Memorial Award as UW's outstanding graduating man.

April 27, 2016 — At an early age, former University of Wyoming student Kimberly Sanchez, of Cheyenne, developed a love for anthropology.
April 27, 2016 — A Gillette student’s business proposal that specializes in designing and providing tools to sanitary companies to help maintain the cleanliness of portable toilets (porta-potties) won the recent John P. Ellbogen $30K Entrepreneurship Competition sponsored by the University of Wyoming College of Business.

They are Christians, and they went to Israel (and perhaps the few religious sites just over the borders in Egypt or Jordan). But, for nearly three centuries after Jesus’ death, it was not that way. If you crunch the numbers on his career at the University of Wyoming, you will learn that in 33 years he has taught 32 different courses in algebra, analysis and applied mathematics; served as head of the Department of Mathematics for six years; and spent 14 years in the Office of Academic Affairs as associate vice president and later as provost.

April 25, 2016 — As an associate professor of instructional technology in the University of Wyoming’s College of Education, Craig Shepherd teaches graduate-level courses using distance technologies to students across the country.

April 25, 2016 — The University of Wyoming collected more than 130,000 pounds of recyclables during RecycleMania, a collegiate recycling competition managed by Keep America Beautiful.

April 20, 2016 — University of Wyoming student Jazlynn Hall, of Rawlins, is among 2,000 individuals nationwide to receive the highly competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) fellowship.

April 11, 2016 — Wyoming Public Media’s (WPM) Caroline Ballard was chosen to participate in National Public Radio’s (NPR) Audio Storytelling Workshop, where public media creators will bring their ideas to Washington, D.C., for three days of planning, training and collaborating. NPR received more than 100 applications.

April 8, 2016 — A milestone for the University of Wyoming was the Nov. 13, 2015 announcement that it would create (1) a Diversity Strategic Planning Committee (DSPC) representing all university constituencies and (2) create an administrative position responsible for coordinating diversity matters, issues and actions. Subsequently, on Jan. 25, 2016, the Board of Trustees authorized the position of Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, and the formation of a search committee to identify appropriate candidates for this position.

April 6, 2016 — A University of Wyoming researcher recently received an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant to study black and brown carbon emitted from wildfires, and the effect this carbon has on climate change.
April 6, 2016 — The Wyoming State 4-H Foundation has awarded more than $33,000 in new scholarships to Wyoming 4-Hers.

April 5, 2016 — Cathy Shuster, an office associate with University of Wyoming Extension, today (Tuesday) was named UW’s outstanding employee of the year during the annual Staff Recognition Day at UW.

April 5, 2016 — University of Wyoming dancers are invited to perform at the National Festival of the American College Dance Association June 8-11 at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
April 5, 2016 — Three University of Wyoming graduate students took top honors for posters and papers at the March meeting of the Western Society of Weed Science in Albuquerque, N.M.
April 4, 2016 — For many months, you have been hearing and reading about the revenue decline the state faces. The decline results from the precipitous fall of energy commodity prices and production volumes that began two years ago, and that may continue well into the future. The Legislature has made an initial response to this situation by reducing appropriations for state agencies -- including UW -- by 1.5 percent for the 2017-18 biennium beginning July 1. The Legislature may mandate further cuts for the second year of the coming biennium, and perhaps beyond. This letter explains how UW is responding to a situation that it has not faced in over 30 years.
