Americana folk and family music duo The Okee Dokee Brothers will conclude the University of Wyoming Cultural Programs spring concert series Friday, April 15, at 1 p.m. and Saturday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Tickets cost $15 for the public; $12 for faculty, staff and senior citizens; and $10 for students. Family packages cost $20 per family up to three children. The cost is $5 for each additional child. Childhood friends Justin Lansing and Joe Mailander grew up in Denver, Colo., where they enjoyed exploring the outdoors. They now share their love of the outdoors through the music they make as The Okee Dokee Brothers.

In 2011, they took a month-long journey on the Mississippi River. They camped, canoed and composed songs that make up “Can You Canoe?: A Mississippi River Adventure.” The CD/DVD won the Grammy Award for Best Children’s Album of the Year in 2013.

The Okee Dokee Brothers embarked on another adventure in 2013 -- a month-long trek on the Appalachian Trail -- to create their second adventure album, “Through the Woods: An Appalachian Adventure.” A third adventure album, “Saddle Up,” based on their travels through the Southwest, will be released in May.

National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” says of the duo, “(The Okee Dokee Brothers) remind us of the American belief that we’re bound for better weather. Their album (Can You Canoe?) celebrates everyday explorers, young and old, who rediscover that notion daily.”

The Okee Dokee Brothers performances at UW are co-sponsored by Wyoming State Parks and supported by the Colonel Rogers Excellence Fund.
