Small Business Webinar on Changing Retail Market Scheduled July 20

July 7, 2016

The ever-changing retail market will be the subject of the next Wyoming Entrepreneur Small Business Development Center (SBDC) webinar.

“Retail Emergency! Throw Us a Life Vest in This Changing Market!” is scheduled Wednesday, July 20, 2-3 p.m. Tom Shay, a fourth-generation business owner and nationally known retail expert, will provide tips to make businesses profitable in spite of a reduced market.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBDC focuses on educating small business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

In a changing economy, retailers often need to shift strategies to better manage cash flow. Shay will explain how retailers can evaluate their current positions to determine what is working and what should be changed. He also will discuss how to find opportunities that may exist in other markets; how to improve profit on existing sales; and how to improve promotion strategies without increasing advertising costs.

Shay has written 13 books on small business management; wrote a college textbook on small business accounting and business planning; and is a nationally recognized speaker on retail business management.

There is no cost to attend, but online registration is necessary to obtain the link to the program. To register, go to www.wyen.biz. Registrants also will receive a link to the recorded program if they cannot attend at the scheduled time.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed.
