Billiard Club is UW Campus Activities Center’s Featured RSO for November

November 22, 2016

University of Wyoming’s premier pool group, Billiard Club, has been named the Campus Activities Center’s featured recognized student organization (RSO) for November.

Each month, the Campus Activities Center honors a different RSO.

Billiard Club was founded in fall 2012 by a group of friends that loved playing different types of pool games and hoped to share that love with other students. Billiard Club’s main objective is to help others grow in their billiards skill, facilitating social skills, and providing a fun and relaxed environment while encouraging healthy competition.

“We form a little family within ourselves. We have a sense of community within the club that allows everyone to become friends,” says Cierra Jones, president of the UW Billiard Club. “Who knew pool could bring people close together?”

Jones also says that, ever since she joined, she has become more outspoken and less shy upon meeting new people.

“It got even easier once I became an officer of the club and, now that I am president, I am able to speak in large groups of people with fewer nerves. Without this club, I would probably be a shy introvert who would still be growing into her shell,” Jones says.

The club offers a variety of activities and events, including pool tournaments two to three times per semester; point scramble for members at the end of the semester; and raffles during tournaments and meeting times.

Billiard Club is open to students of all majors and meets Mondays from 7-10 p.m. in Pete’s Game Room in the Wyoming Union.

For more information on joining Billiard Club, students can stop by Pete’s Game Room and talk to Jones; become a member on Collegiate Link; or like the club on Facebook.
