Wyoming law requires that the design of license plates change every eight years, and new plates are being issued during calendar year 2017. All UW plated vehicles need to have the new plates displayed by March 31, 2017, which is the date that has been specified for UW government-exempt license plates.
UW Fleet Services will contact departments to outline the process of replacing the license plates. Fleet Services Manager Shawn Fletcher says that, although departments have until midnight March 31 to display the plates on their vehicles, plates should be displayed immediately upon receipt.
Failure to display the plates by March 31 at midnight may result in a fine. The new plates are valid for eight years and do not have to be renewed annually.
If you have any questions, call Fletcher at 766-3573.
