UW SBDC Webinar Helps Businesses with International Shipping

February 28, 2017

Small-business owners in Wyoming will have an opportunity to learn more about effectively managing shipping and logistics during a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) webinar Thursday, March 23, from 2-3 p.m.

Anya Binks, an account manager with UPS who has worked in the logistics field for more than 10 years, will present the webinar, titled “International Shipping and Logistics.” She will discuss various topics, including harmonized system codes, incoterms, export documentation, automated export system certificates of origin, export licensing and value-added tax.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

“Anyone involved in exporting must deal with complex shipping details, and this webinar will be very helpful,” says Cindy Beth Unger, Wyoming SBDC business adviser.

There is no fee for this webinar, due to a State Trade and Export Promotion grant awarded to the Wyoming Business Council from the U.S. SBA. However, attendees must register at www.wyomingsbdc.org to obtain the link to the webinar.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and SBIR/STTR Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
