Campus Construction Update for March 19

March 17, 2017

(Note: The weekly construction update highlights only projects with new developments. Comprehensive updates are distributed monthly. For the most recent comprehensive update, click here.)

These are among the construction activities scheduled March 19-25 at the University of Wyoming:

Colder Weather Advisory (UW Operations) -- UW Operations asks building occupants to assist with ensuring buildings and facilities are safe and secure. Make sure all windows and doors are completely closed with windows latched at the end of each day, and report any doors or windows that you are unable to close and secure to the Service Desk (766-6225).

Snow Removal (UW Operations) -- Crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the Service Desk (766-6225) to report icy spots and problem areas.

UW Operations reports the following activities for the week:

Classroom Building (UW Operations) -- The broken water line repair will be completed by March 24. Vehicle traffic on the east side of the building will not be permitted. Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted next to the Physical Sciences Building. Please use caution in this area.

Merica Hall (northeast corner) to the Biological Sciences Building (UW Operations) -- UW Operations will place a temporary water line from the fire hydrant on the northeast corner of Merica Hall to the Biological Sciences Building. The temporary line will be placed on the ground and will cross some sidewalks, so use caution in this area. Truck ramps will be placed to protect the temporary line on the fire lane on the south side of Biological Sciences. Travel across ramps is allowed. This temporary line will be removed the night of March 17 so as not to interfere with classes starting again.

College of Agriculture (Colorado Hazard Control, Denver; March 2017) -- South entry canopies will be closed for a few hours to abate the roof. Please use caution in this area.

College of Law (Plumbing Shop, UW Operations) -- Installation of a new ADA-compliant drinking water and bottle filling station is taking place in the basement of the College of Law Building. Work will cause noise disturbance at times, as it is in the library area. Please use caution around crews.

Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (Construction manager at risk GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; June 2018) -- Steel erection for the building has begun. Although overhead work will be limited to within the construction fence, there will be mobilization of cranes, along with heavier truck traffic in this area. The crane has been moved to the south center of the new building footprint. This will limit the pedestrian access across the north side of the football field on the concrete walkway. Pedestrians will now access the Fieldhouse and the Arena-Auditorium by walking across the field itself; the path is slightly south of the north goal posts. All other pedestrian access routes remain. Please use caution when in or near this area.
