BFA Art Exhibition on Display Through May 12 at UW

The University of Wyoming Department of Art and Art History’s annual Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition, “BFA 2017,” can be seen through Friday, May 12. A reception for the exhibition will take place Thursday, May 11, from 6-8 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building Gallery, on the corner of 22nd Street and Willett Drive.

The Visual Arts Building Gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

The exhibition will feature works by 10 graduating BFA students: Cody Anderson, Gillette; Robert Bryans, Olivia Christensen, Narissa Kennedy and Kate Uhl, all from Laramie; Alia Gonzales, Buffalo; Alyssa Mauer, Cheyenne; Elizabeth Suriani, Loveland, Colo.; Lucas Watkins, Lander; and Chalice Weichman, Jackson.

The work ranges from painting to printmaking, from sculpture to wet-plate photography, ceramics and metalsmithing.

"The BFA degree program is offered to outstanding students, selected by application and portfolio submission and review, who are preparing for further art studies, and careers and professional activity beyond the undergraduate level,” says Margaret Haydon, art professor. “The BFA degree is considered the honors program of study in the Department of Art and Art History, and is the preferred program for students preparing for graduate school and professional careers in the visual arts.”
