University of Wyoming Calendar for May 8-14

These are among the activities scheduled May 8-14 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, May 8-Friday, May 12 -- Finals week.

Monday, May 8, 4:30 p.m. -- Scott Henkel, assistant professor in the Department of English and in African American and Diaspora Studies, will discuss “The Humanities and the Land Grant University Mission from the 19th to the 21st Century.” His talk will be in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Free.

Monday, May 8, 7 p.m. -- UW Creative Writing Program MFA students will read from their theses at Night Heron Books, 107 E. Ivinson Ave. in Laramie. Free and open to the public.

Tuesday, May 9, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. -- Wyoming Honors Organization, Tri Delta and Black Dog Animal Rescue will host a puppy destresser event in Prexy’s Pasture. Rentals cost $5 for 10 minutes.

Tuesday, May 9, 7 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “The Search for the Edge of the Solar System.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Wednesday, May 10, 7 p.m. -- UW Creative Writing Program MFA students will read from their theses at Night Heron Books, 107 E. Ivinson Ave. in Laramie. Free and open to the public.

Thursday, May 11, 4 p.m. -- UW-Casper graduation ceremonies, Casper Events Center.

Thursday, May 11, 6 p.m. -- A reception for art exhibition “BFA 2017” will take place in the Visual Arts Building Gallery. Free.

Thursday, May 11, 6 p.m. -- American Indian Studies graduation ceremony, Laramie Train Depot.

Friday, May 12, 10:30 a.m. -- Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau Ceremony, College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, May 12, Noon -- Veterans Services Center ceremony, Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Friday, May 12, 2 p.m. -- Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing Convocation, College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Friday, May 12, 3 p.m. -- Multicultural graduation ceremony, Wyoming Union Ballroom.

Friday, May 12, 8 p.m. -- Planetarium show, “Brilliant Horizons.” A free STAR Observatory tour (weather dependent) follows at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

Saturday, May 13, 11 a.m. -- Planetarium show, “A Stroll Through the Solar System.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204.

6 p.m. -- College of Arts and Sciences, Indoor Practice Facility.

8:30 a.m. -- College of Health Sciences, Indoor Practice Facility.

9 a.m. -- College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

10 a.m. -- College of Law, Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.

11 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Outreach School commencement reception, Wildcatter Stadium Club, War Memorial Stadium.

12:30 p.m. -- College of Engineering and Applied Science, College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

1:30 p.m. -- College of Education, Indoor Practice Facility.

4 p.m. -- College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

6 p.m. -- Army/Air Force ROTC commissioning ceremony, Performing Arts Center.
