A new exhibition, “Divine Ammunition: The Work of Al Farrow,” will open Saturday, Aug. 26, at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

“Divine Ammunition: The Work of Al Farrow” presents technically sophisticated architectural works that are made to scale and are created from guns, ammunition and found objects. The exhibition includes meticulous depictions of cathedrals, synagogues, mausoleums, mosques, devotional objects and more that explore ideas about religion and conflict. The exhibition will be on view through Dec. 16.

“The aesthetic beauty of Farrow’s work defies imagination and lies in dramatic opposition to the dialogue and discussions that are possible when considering the exhibition’s content,” says Susan Moldenhauer, director and chief curator at the UW Art Museum.

Farrow, in addition to UW faculty, curators and educators for the Art Museum, will present two free public programs in September.

Events scheduled are:

-- Wednesday, Sept. 20, 7 p.m., “Examining Intersections of War, Religion and Death: A Panel Discussion with Al Farrow and UW Faculty,” Art Museum.

-- Thursday, Sept. 21, 10:30 a.m., gallery walk-through, Art Museum.

The exhibition and visiting artist residency have been made possible by Union Wireless, Art Museum Gala funds, an anonymous donor, Edelweiss funds, the National Advisory Board for the UW Art Museum Endowment, the Wyoming Arts Council through the National Endowment for the Arts and the Wyoming State Legislature.

For more information about the Art Museum, call (307) 766-6622, visit the website at www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum, or follow the museum on Facebook.

Through its “Museum as Classroom” approach, the UW Art Museum places art at the center of learning for all ages. Located in the Centennial Complex at 2111 Willett Drive in Laramie, the museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday hours are extended to 7 p.m. February through April and September through November. Admission is free.
