“Art in the Museum: Inspired by Life,” an art exhibition inspired by work in natural history collections, is scheduled March 27-April 27 in the University of Wyoming Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center. A reception is set Thursday, March 29, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Berry Center.

The UW Museum of Vertebrates (UWYMV), in conjunction with the Biodiversity Institute, sponsors the event. Associated students and researchers of UWYMV will produce all of the exhibition pieces.

“The show is based around inspiration that students and researchers have received while working in natural history research collections,” says Elizabeth Wommack, staff curator at the UWYMV. “Many of them are based upon inspiration they have gained working in the UWYMV with our research specimens of all different types of vertebrates and vertebrate preparations.”

Wommack says there are tentatively eight pieces slated for the exhibition, but that number could increase before the exhibition opens. She adds construction of the show will begin immediately after the university’s spring break.

The Berry Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
