A new exhibition, “Highpoint Editions: Contemporary Prints,” will open Saturday, Aug. 25, at the University of Wyoming Art Museum.

“Highpoint Editions: Contemporary Prints” features work from Highpoint Editions, the fine art publishing arm of Highpoint Center for Printmaking in Minneapolis, Minn. Invited professional artists, such as Willie Cole and Julie Mehretu, have created prints in collaboration with Master Printer Cole Rogers. As a complement to the exhibition, prints from notable Highpoint Center for Printmaking alumni also will be featured in the “Outstanding Affiliates” exhibition on view in the Wyoming Gallery.

The 2018 Mid America Print Council (MAPC) Conference, hosted by the UW Department of Art and Art History, will take place Oct. 3-6. More than 300 printmakers from the Midwest and West are expected to attend “Go West: The Collaborative Turn.” Highpoint Center for Printmaking co-founders Carla McGrath, executive director, and Rogers, artistic director, have been selected as the Outstanding Printmakers for the 2018 conference.

Wyoming educators and artists can register for the MAPC conference at a discounted rate through a grant from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund. Email Mark Ritchie at marrit@uwyo.edu for details. For more information about the conference, go to www.mapc2018.org.

“We are excited to exhibit the work of the world-class artists who have collaborated with Highpoint Editions and to be part of the Mid America Print Council conference,” says Nicole Crawford, chief curator of the UW Art Museum.
