Cirque Mechanics’ “42 Feet: A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels,” a performance that combines circus and mechanics, will be staged Friday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences auditorium as part of the UW Presents featured performances.

Tickets cost $20 for the public; $17 for UW faculty and staff, and senior citizens; and $10 for students. UW Presents also is offering a special family of four package for $40. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office, by calling (307) 766-6666 or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

Before the Friday performance, Cirque Mechanics will host a free workshop Thursday, Nov. 1, from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Coe Student Innovation Center. The workshop, titled “The Machines Behind the Mechanics,” will give attendees an up-close look at the how, what and why behind the machines used during Cirque performances.

Sponsored by the College of Engineering and Applied Science, the College of Arts and Sciences, Tau Beta Pi, UW Presents and the Coe Student Innovation Center, the workshop has direct science, technology, engineering and mathematics applications.

Founded in 2004 by Boston native Chris Lashua, Cirque Mechanics began after Lashua’s successful collaboration with the Circus Center of San Francisco’s Birdhouse Factory. It quickly became one of America’s premier circus acts.

According to Spectacle Magazine, performances are “the greatest contribution to the American circus since Cirque du Soleil.” Cirque Mechanics combines elements of modern circus, mechanics and American ingenuity. Each performance tells a story through acrobatics, mechanical wonders and clowning around.

This will be Cirque Mechanics’ first U.S. tour performing the new show, “42 Feet: A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels.”

Each year, UW Presents brings a variety of internationally known performers to campus, often at ticket prices much less than at larger venues. This season features four performances during the fall semester and five spring semester performances.

The fall season comes to a close with Australia’s The TEN Tenors Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.
