University of Wyoming Calendar for July 15

These are among the activities scheduled July 15-21 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium full-dome movie, “Phantom of the Universe.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Wednesday, July 17, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. -- The Dougan Smith Trio, a jazz ensemble, will perform for the UW Summer Concert Series on Simpson Plaza. Free.

Friday, July 19, 8 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “The Power of Zero.” The STAR Observatory on the rooftop of the Physical Sciences Building will be open to the public for a “star party” from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Saturday, July 20, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium full-dome movie, “Dawn of the Space Age.” The Albany County Public Library will sponsor these free shows to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Guests should reserve their seats by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.” For more information, email planetarium@uwyo.edu.

A variety of exhibitions can be seen at the UW Art Museum in the Centennial Complex, located at 2111 E. Willett Drive in Laramie. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday hours are extended to 7 p.m. Free.

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
