University of Wyoming Calendar for Aug. 5

These are among the activities scheduled Aug. 5-11 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “This Month’s Sky.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Friday, Aug. 9, noon -- UW students with valid UW student IDs are eligible for free movie tickets on select Fridays this summer. Students may pick up tickets from the Wyoming Union information desk Aug. 9 and Aug. 16 starting at noon on each date. Tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Friday, Aug. 9, 8 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “You Are a Star.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Saturday, Aug. 10, 10 a.m. -- “Trey Duvall: Do, Do, Do, Do, Do” will open at the UW Art Museum. The exhibition presents an evolving site-specific sculpture and a rotating frieze of video performances. Free.

Saturday, Aug. 10, 11 a.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “Space is Art.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Saturday, Aug. 10, 8 p.m. -- The UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium will host a laser show, featuring music by Metallica. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
