The University of Wyoming’s Maohong Fan is among Clarivate Analytics’ list of the world’s most highly cited researchers in the chemical and petroleum engineering field.

Fan, a UW School of Energy Resources professor in chemical and petroleum engineering, was listed in the prestigious Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers 2019 publication.

Highly Cited Researchers 2019 represents some of the world’s most influential scientific minds from 21 scientific fields. Approximately 6,008 researchers earned the distinction by writing the greatest number of reports officially designated by Essential Science Indicators as “Highly Cited Papers” -- ranking among the top 1 percent most cited for their subject field and year of publication (2007-2017). Only articles and reviews in science and social sciences journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection were considered.

For the second year in a row, Fan was listed in the “cross-field” category that identifies researchers with substantial influence across several fields during the last decade. The cross-field category was added in 2018. Approximately 2,491 researchers with cross-field impact join the approximately 3,517 other researchers who have been selected in one or more of the 21 broad fields for 2019.

“The award belongs to the University of Wyoming,” Fan says. “We appreciate every support that we receive and will continue to work hard to support the state of Wyoming.”
