Strategic Scenario Planning Session for UW Students, Parents March 23

A strategic scenario planning session for University of Wyoming students and parents is scheduled from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23.

More than 100 members of the UW community are serving on groups charged with developing a university strategic plan. Several listening tour sessions have already taken place. The latest session for students and parents can be accessed through Zoom at https://uwyo.zoom.us/j/95405983449.

The student listening session is one of a series being conducted by UW’s Strategic Scenario Planning Team, co-chaired by President Ed Seidel and Interim Provost Anne Alexander. The listening session tour focuses on two main themes:

-- How can the university best meet its mission in these challenging economic times?

-- How can UW best provide a holistic education to the people of the state of Wyoming?

The Strategic Scenario Planning Team includes Faculty Senate Chair Rudi Michalak, a senior lecturer in the Department of Physics and Astronomy; Riley Talamantes, president, Courtney Titus, vice president, and Laura Perez, director of diversity, for the Associated Students of UW; and Staff Senate President Chris Stratton, a member of UW’s custodial staff.

Other members are UW Trustees Macey Moore, of Douglas, and Laura Schmid-Pizzato, of Rock Springs; Mary Ivanoff, chief of staff in the Office of the President; Michael Barker, a professor in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering; Adrienne Freng, a professor and chair of the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology; and UW Alumni Association Executive Director Keener Fry.

Four other teams are focused on the “four pillars” emphasized by Seidel since he became UW’s 28th president last year -- foundations for innovation and change that will pivot the institution to financial sustainability and accelerate its role as an economic development engine. Those are making UW more digital, more entrepreneurial, more interdisciplinary and more inclusive.
