UW Auxiliary Units Merge into Division of Finance and Administration

In response to a nearly $55 million budget reduction facing the University of Wyoming in the 2020-22 biennium, President Ed Seidel has directed that UW Student Housing, Dining Services, the University Store, Catering and Events, and Vending Services merge administrative operations into the Division of Finance and Administration.

The goal of this change is to lower administrative costs and increase revenue generated by these auxiliary units.

Additionally, the Wyoming Conservation Corps, which had previously operated as a component of Dining Services, will move to the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources.

Indiana University (IU) Associate Professor Emeritus Doug Priest will serve as acting executive director of these auxiliary units -- as well as Jacoby Golf Course, Transit and Parking Services, and Real Estate -- until a permanent director is hired. Priest recently completed a 40-plus-year career at IU where, in addition to his faculty position, he directed auxiliary units and served as IU’s senior associate vice president for finance and senior adviser to the IU-Bloomington chancellor.
