Two from UW Recently Receive CRA Credentials

Two employees in the University of Wyoming’s Office of Research and Economic Development recently received the designation of certified research administrator (CRA) from the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC).

Amanda Larson, coordinator of research services, received her credentials in December 2020, while Shauna Bury, assistant director of research services, received her credentials this month.

The earning of this designation means that an individual has met the requirements of the RACC eligibility requirements and has demonstrated a level of knowledge necessary for a person to be a professional research or sponsored programs administrator. RACC currently has more than 3,000 certified administrators who hold the CRA designation. CRAs are required to maintain the credential by demonstrating their continuing education in the profession every five years.

“This is a tremendous professional accomplishment for these two. We are thrilled that they are part of the Research Services team within the Office of Research and Economic Development,” says Farrell Rapp, director of research services, who also possesses the CRA credential. “Currently, there are five CRAs at the University of Wyoming, three of which are part of the Research Services team.”

RACC was formed in 1993 as an independent nonprofit organization. The council is composed of active CRAs whose role is to certify that an individual, through experience and testing, has met the requirements for CRA designation.
