UW Board of Trustees to Meet Wednesday Via Teleconference

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will consider issuing up to $260 million in bonds for new campus housing and a parking facility during its regular teleconference meeting Wednesday, June 16.

Also on the agenda are consideration of the university’s budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year; the student financial aid strategy for the 2022-23 academic year; and modification of a number of university regulations.

The meeting will begin with an executive session at 7 a.m. The public session, expected to begin around 8 a.m., will be livestreamed via UW’s WyoCast system and YouTube at https://wyolinks.uwyo.edu/trusteesjune.

Last month, trustees approved the interior and exterior designs of two new residence halls and a dining facility to be located west of 15th Street, near McWhinnie Hall and Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center. The new, five-level residence halls will accommodate a total of 900 students, replacing outdated residence halls along Grand Avenue.

Additionally, the board approved the exterior design of a new, three-level parking facility at the site of the current Ivinson parking lot at the southwest edge of campus. The parking structure will be built to help address the loss of parking spaces due to residence hall and other construction around campus. When completed, the Ivinson Parking Garage will provide spaces for 375 vehicles, as well as the offices of the UW Police Department.

The Wyoming Legislature has authorized the university to issue bonds to finance construction, which is scheduled to begin this fall for the parking facility and in 2022 for the residence halls.

The board’s complete agenda, along with a report that includes background information on agenda items, will be available at www.uwyo.edu/trustees/2021-meeting-materials/june_16_2021_meeting.html.
