Wyoming Public Media Wins Four National Awards

Wyoming Public Media (WPM) has won four Public Media Journalists Association (PMJA) national awards.

A joint reporting effort by Cooper McKim and WyoFile won first place for investigative reporting for a story, titled “Wyoming’s Dark Money Coal Campaign.”

The station received second place in the best news/public affairs program category for the “Open Spaces” show called “Stories About Race.”

Catherine Wheeler’s piece about high school seniors not getting closure during the pandemic won second place in the short documentary category.

Former reporter Savannah Maher picked up second place for best use of sound for her story about transferring bison out of Yellowstone National Park to avoid the annual cull.

This is the 15th straight year WPM has won a national PMJA (formerly known as PRNDI) award.

WPM is Wyoming’s public radio/media statewide network, operating four FM channels and online services. It is the National Public Radio affiliate for Wyoming and licensed to the University of Wyoming as a statewide public service.
