UW Homecoming Set Oct. 17

The University of Wyoming’s annual Homecoming celebration will take place Oct. 17-22, with the theme “Dancing in the Dirt.”

Homecoming activities will include department-hosted events, tailgate celebrations, a new “Tribute to Steamboat” event, Cowboy Coffee and the annual Homecoming parade. The week caps off with the UW football game against the Utah State Aggies.

UniWyo Credit Union is the sponsor of this year’s Cowboy Coffee gathering. Cowboy Coffee will take place Saturday, Oct. 22, at the UW Student Success and Graduation Hub (Alumni House), located at the corner of 14th Street and Grand Avenue. The event is from 7 a.m. until the start of the parade. Complimentary Homecoming mugs -- one per person -- and breakfast items will be available while they last.

Mike and Karen Schutte, longtime UW supporters and community leaders, will serve as the grand marshals for the Homecoming parade Saturday, Oct. 22. The parade is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.; however, the start time is subject to change upon announcement of the football kickoff time. The parade will begin at Cowboy Coffee on the corner of 14th Street and Grand Avenue; go west on Grand Avenue to Second Street; north on Second Street to Ivinson Avenue; and east on Ivinson to Ninth Street.

The UW Alumni Association (UWAA) will coordinate the parade. Individuals or groups interested in participating in the parade must fill out an application and return it to the UWAA office at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, located at 222 S. 22nd St., by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. Applications are available at www.uwyo.edu/alumni/homecoming/homecomingparade.html.

The football game start time will be announced later. The Pepsi Pregame Zone in the Indoor Practice Facility will open three hours before kickoff.

Other Homecoming events scheduled are:
