The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will hold its regular teleconference meeting Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Special Events, in conjunction with the University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance, will host The Acting Company in a 50th anniversary touring production of “The Three Musketeers.”

The one-night-only performance is at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

An inspiring tale filled with laughter and adventure, “The Three Musketeers” is a reminder that courage, honesty and valor can change the world. The world-premiere adaptation, written by Kirsten Childs from the original novel by Alexandre Dumas and directed by Kent Gash, was commissioned by The Acting Company. It draws inspiration from a secret -- that Dumas’ father, Gen. Alex Dumas, was the highest-ranking person of color in a Western military until our own time.

The Acting Company adaptation mashes up waltz with spoken word and court drama with high-fashion hip-hop to shed new light and importance on the story.

“What excites me about ‘The Three Musketeers’ is that it is a raucous, dynamic, visceral, exciting production -- boys sort of growing up into being men -- and how we need to ultimately take responsibility for each other,” Gash says. “It is so much about brotherhood and honor and care than it is just a great adventure story.”
