The Casper Star-Tribune (CS-T), The Laramie Boomerang, The San Francisco Chronicle and Inside Higher Ed were among media outlets announcing that UW President Laurie Nichols will move to a faculty position once her contract expires June 30.

K2 Radio and Hits 106 noted that UW trustees will select an acting president and begin the process of selecting a new leader.

India’s Devdiscourse, England’s BioEngineer and BioPortfolio were among online publications that published UW’s release on research, headed by Professor Bryan Shuman, indicating that more droughts are expected as Arctic warming continues.

Bustle, an online premium publisher reaching millennial women and based in New York City, interviewed UW history Professor Renee Laegreid for an article on how Wyoming gave women the right to vote 50 years before the rest of the country.

UW Board of Trustees members voted to keep a Bachelor of Science degree in geography, but the program will be retained under the Department of Geology and Geophysics, reported The Boomerang.

Wyoming Public Radio featured Laramie High School student Arundathi Nair, who interviewed several UW professors for her C-SPAN award-winning documentary, “Out of Many, One Out of One, Many.”

Eric Moody, director of research and evaluation at the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities at UW, told Wyoming Public Media that Wyoming is among the top 10 states for employing people with disabilities.

Jackson Hole News and Guide reported that UW biologists have indicated that lingering winter conditions have taken a toll on the deer herd in the Wyoming Range near Kemmerer and Evanston.

UW’s Ruckelshaus Institute is assisting with meetings to discuss the management concerns, issues and opportunities for the Whiskey Mountain bighorn sheep herd, reported The CS-T.

UW student members of the Cap and Gown Chapter of Mortar Board recently selected staff members for “Tip of the Cap” honors. The Gillette News Record, Wyo4News and County 17 published UW’s release naming local students.

The Cody Enterprise featured UW’s free one-day lecture series program, Saturday University, which was held last weekend in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.

UW Black 14 players were mentioned in an Arizona Daily Star article focusing on athletes who stood up for a cause. The players also were featured in Thy Black Man, a website devoted to “the brotherhood of black men.”

The Boomerang featured “Jump Shot,” a documentary profiling UW basketball legend Kenny Sailors, who is credited with inventing the modern-day jump shot.
