State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:

The Casper Star-Tribune published an article, titled “Where will Wyoming’s displaced fossil fuel workers go?,” and included a notice that UW has launched several entrepreneurship programs statewide to help displaced workers.

Rocky Mountain Power will decommission its entire coal-fired power fleet in the state by 2039 while continuing to add wind, solar and battery storage to its six-state operating system. WyoFile interviewed UW economist Rob Godby on the company’s recent Integrated Resource Plan. Energy Central, Electrek and the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis published similar articles.

Trail Runner magazine published the firsthand account of Wyoming Migration Initiative Associate Research Scientist Patrick Rodgers’ 92-mile ultra-run that followed the migration path of one of his study animals. UW’s Rodgers discussed the run as part of facing the grief of losing his father, Neil, to cancer.

UW constitutional law Professor Stephen Feldman was interviewed by National Public Radio for a segment, titled “The Case for Court Packing as a Way to Promote Democracy.”

Stacker, an online news website, used data from Niche to compile the top 100 public universities in America, ranking UW No. 81. Rankings are based on an analysis of academic, admissions, financial and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education, along with millions of reviews from students and alumni. The ranking compares more than 500 public colleges and state universities.

UW’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program was rated No. 2 in a Nurse.org survey of “Top Cheap and Fast Online RN to BSN Programs in 2022.”

Trial Site News reported that UW Assistant Professor Karen Mruk recently received a two-year, $362,494 grant from the National Institutes of Health to continue her research into spinal cord regeneration. She investigates how zebrafish regenerate, which she believes helps human regenerative therapy investigations.

Maryam Noor, from Pakistan, came to UW for the spring 2019 semester to study international studies as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Global Undergraduate Exchange Program. She talked about her positive experience at UW with Share America.

WyoToday Media noted that Gov. Mark Gordon officially recognized September as Wyoming Archaeology Awareness Month. The article also featured the late George Frison, the first head of UW’s Department of Anthropology and Wyoming’s first state archaeologist.

New chronic wasting disease research by UW scientists has found that the widespread disease is actually changing the genetics of the state’s mule deer. Wyoming Public Radio noted that the research was led by UW Professor Holly Ernest and Melanie LaCava, a recently graduated UW student.

Laramie Live published UW’s release announcing that UW’s recent COVID-19 numbers remain steady since the beginning of the fall semester. The Laramie Boomerang published a similar article.

UW’s School of Energy Resources is hosting a “Pathways to Net-Zero” workshop in Sheridan today (Tuesday). The Sheridan Press reported that community leaders will lead the discussion on exploring goals, needs and concerns in achieving a net-zero energy mix.

The Rocket Miner published UW’s release noting that the UW Alumni Association has designated certain Fridays before UW home football games as Kickoff Fridays. The first event was held last weekend.

UW’s Coe Library is hosting a 9/11 Memorial & Museum exhibition, titled “September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World.” Oil City News published UW’s release noting that the exhibition runs through Dec. 17.

The Gillette News Record, County 10 and the Rocket Miner published UW’s release announcing a recent stethoscope ceremony for the latest class of WWAMI medical students. WWAMI is a five-state consortium -- Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho -- that provides medical training to students.

Registrations are now being accepted for 18 free World Language and Culture Program courses at UW this semester. Hits 106 and The Laramie Boomerang published UW’s announcement.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle published UW’s release noting that a vaccination clinic would be held before last Saturday’s home football opener.

The fourth annual Wyoming Blockchain Stampede will attract a global community of developers, entrepreneurs, legal experts, legislators, researchers, educators and students, and will be livestreamed for audiences around the world. Oil City News published UW’s announcement.
