    State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent coverage:

    Bloomberg Law interviewed UW law Professor Michael Duff, a labor law expert, about Microsoft Corp.’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard Inc. The article noted that the purchase is “shaking up the fight” to unionize workers at the video gaming company and presenting new challenges for labor advocates. Law360 also interviewed Duff for an article that focused on how to rectify labor law violations.

    UW economist Anne Alexander was interviewed by Reflector for an online article on what is causing the spikes in prices for food, gasoline and housing. Other economists joined Alexander in trying to anticipate when consumers will get relief.

    A UW delegation -- led by Isadora Helfgott, UW’s vice provost for global engagement -- traveled to Uzbekistan last week, according to KUN.UZ, an online publication in that country, to discuss future higher education opportunities.

    WyoFile reported that TerraPower and PacifiCorp, which will take ownership of a new nuclear power plant once operations begin in Kemmerer, are busy establishing job training and retraining plans with UW, local community colleges and the state.

    Chris Levesque, president and CEO of TerraPower, owner of the nuclear reactor plant to be built near Kemmerer, discussed the project at a recent public forum, The Kemmerer Gazette reported. Levesque said UW President Ed Seidel is in favor of the project, and he hopes to add courses in advanced nuclear energy at the university.

    UW economist Rob Godby spoke with Wyoming Public Radio on how the oil industry has rebounded as global oil prices and demand have increased in previous months.

    WyoFile interviewed J.J. Shinker, a professor in the UW Department of Geology and Geophysics, about how climate change has changed precipitation levels in Wyoming. The interview was part of an article focused on how aquifers have been affected by methane gas development in the state.

    The Wyoming Tribune Eagle published UW’s release noting that UW student Nadia Dworian, from Anchorage, Alaska, will work with U.S. Gold Corp. on the Copper King Gold Project, located near Curt Gowdy State Park. She will collect geological data.

    UW received a gift of more than $1 million from philanthropist Susie McMurry, of Casper, that will support the university’s Western Thunder Marching Band and the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing. Oil City News published UW’s release.

    Wyoming News Now published UW’s release noting that public presentations are underway for the four finalists for the position of vice president for research and economic development at the university.

    Chad Baldwin, UW’s associate vice president for communications and marketing, spoke with Sheridan Media about the university’s plans for a new School of Computing.

    MoneyGeek interviewed UW marketing Associate Professor Elizabeth Minton for two separate features offering insights on “The Best Rewards Credit Cards of 2022 and “The Best Low-Interest-Rate Credit Cards & Offers in 2022.”

    UW has launched the Navigate mobile app, which enables students to access valuable university resources, including academic advising, peer mentoring and campus event information. CR80News published UW’s release.

    The Laramie Boomerang published UW’s release announcing that the Department of Music’s Helios Piano Trio will perform its debut recital March 1 in New York City’s Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
