Our center is comprised of researchers from a wide scope of rangeland science that are working together to help identify and address major issues facing rangeland ecosystems in the Intermountain West.

Our aim is to combine our expertise in rangeland systems to tackle multi-level, complex issues faced in western rangelands and effectively disseminate our findings and work to the land managers and stakeholders that work with  and rely on these resources.

Rangelands encompass < 35 million square kilometers of the Western United States and cover nearly 84% of the State of Wyoming

These arid and semi-arid lands provide vital resources for rural economies, wildlife habitat, and ecosystem services across the Western United States

Degradation from poor land use practices and the effects of climate change are threatening the short and long-term sustainability of these lands

Research into restoring and increasing the resilience of rangeland systems is necessary to maintain the ecological health and economical benefit of these lands and resources long into the future
