In an effort to support the current troops overseas, the UW Pride Committee sends UW Pride flags to Wyoming troops along with notes thanking them for their service. The enthusiastic response includes photos of the troops with the flags and notes, such as this one from the 133rd Engineer Company of the Wyoming National Guard stationed in Bahrain.

“What the UW flag means to me—I think of home, watching the basketball and football games. Playing UW basketball was my dream in life; I later realized that serving my country was my calling. So when I graduated high school I enlisted in the Wyoming National Guard; GO UW!” –Spc. Shannon Morris

“Knowing that my family and friends back in Wyoming support our mission here is very reassuring. This flag is a daily reminder of what I have waiting for me back home.” –Spc. Chris Claudson

“This flag represents the Wyoming people’s unaltered and undying faith to its troops.” –Sgt. Cody David

“It reminds me of the plans I have to start college when I have returned home.” –Spc. Zachary Hill

“Having the flags around has been a constant reminder of the immense amount of support we have from so many friends and family back home.” –Staff Sgt. Colter Rieke

“As I watched our soldiers take joy and pride in the UW flags … it made me realize just how proud these Wyoming soldiers were of where they came from. In addition, I was able to obtain a flag that is proudly displayed in my room, and it brings a reminder of where this unit comes from.” –Capt. Tyler Schiele
