Wyoming Reclamation and Restoration Center
  • Mission: Research

    Discovering and documenting effective methods and best practices of land reclamation and restoration in Wyoming that avoid, mitigate, reclaim and/or restore land, water and wildlife disturbances. Collaborating with state and federal agencies as well as industry to improve technologies. Providing funding to students and scientists to conduct research on reclamation and restoration.

  • Mission: Outreach

    Teaching educational programs on issues critical to successful reclamation. Developing and publishing extension bulletins. Lending reclamation and restoration expertise to landowners and the general public.

  • Mission: Education

    Providing undergraduate and graduate coursework and field and professional development opportunities. Training students and professionals to facilitate reclamation and restoration projects based on sound ecological,agricultural and economical practices.

 

Welcome

The Wyoming Reclamation and Restoration Center (WRRC) is an interdisciplinary program housed within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and works closely with the School of Energy Resources.

Vision

Establishing a premier regional center for restoration, reclamation, and rehabilitation of disturbed ecosystems based on sound ecological, agricultural, and economical practices.

University of Wyoming: School of Environment & Natural Resources, Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center, Wyoming Natural Diversity Database, Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit; County agencies: Wyoming Association of Conservation Districts; State agencies: Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Game & Fish Department, State Engineer’s Office, State Forestry Division, Water Development Commission, Department of Agriculture, Weed and Pest Council; Federal agencies: Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, USDA Forest Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, US Geological Survey; Private interests: Consulting firms, reclamation and restoration companies, mining and energy companies.
