Wyoming Natural Diversity Database

Rare Plant and Animal Occurrence Mapping

Occurrences by Township Tool – download the information you need right now

NOTICE: WYNDD is currently in the process of building a new data-management system to allow easier, quicker access to information. While this new system will be rolled out some time in 2016, updates to current data may be infrequent, and response time for data requests we receive may be slower than usual. Until then, please use the above tool to download existing data by township, free of charge.

WYNDD's primary mission is to maintain a statewide database of spatial and biological information on rare species and important plant communities, and disseminate data to interested parties. State funding covers about 25% of the costs associated with this mission. Monies generated through data request fees and outside contracts are used to cover the remaining costs.

For requests specific to Mountain Plover or Wyoming Pocket Gopher please see our priority data compilation page.

The most commonly requested data from WYNDD are records of documented observations, or 'occurrence records', of rare plants and animals in specific project areas within Wyoming. Occurrence records can be obtained from the link at the top of this page. Although we occasionally process data requests within 2-3 weekdays, most data requests require 5-10 weekdays for full processing.

Requests requiring a fee: Manual downloads of precise scale data in the form of a shapefile or spreadsheet format
WYNDD provides location records at the most precise spatial scale available for a fee to data users outside of state government. These fees are used to maintain the central WYNDD database, and are scaled to the size of the request area as follows:

Base fee for request areas that intersect just one township: $110.00
Each additional township intersected by the request area will at $10.00 to the base fee.

1 township = $110.00
2 townships = $120.00
3 townships = $130.00

Data Trading: Data request fees can be reduced through participation in WYNDD's Data Trading procedure. Go to the data trading page for more details.

WYNDD will not fill data requests for persons/organizations with overdue payments.
