As you may know the University of Wyoming is moving to a new Learning Management System, WyoCourses by Canvas, in 2014. As of July 2014, WyoCourses (Canvas) will be UW’s sole LMS.
The implementation of WyoCourses by the end of spring semester requires--for faculty who want a course website--getting course content into a WyoCourses shell. For many, this means uploading your course materials and setting up your WyoCourses course as you wish. For others (who submitted migration requests in Fall 2013) this will require careful revision and organization of migrated content.
Course Migration Options:
1. Constructing your WyoCourses course site yourself, from scratch, from your own materials.
This will be most efficient for those who have maintained their course materials locally or wish to create a new course website aligned with WyoCourses structures and tools, but is suitable for any instructor who wants to learn WyoCourses through practice. Assistance is available from tutorials on the WyoCourses site, workshops at UW, and consultations with staff.
2. Copying your contents, manually, from an existing eCollege or eCompanion, or Course Studio course.
This option is the same as the first, except that the instructor presumably wants to preserve the eColl/eComp/Course-Studio course site structure as much as possible, and might have to find and extract materials from the old course site. Faculty will benefit from the accompanying review and revision of materials while learning WyoCourses. For exams, automated transfer is available via the Respondus program, available at both Instructional Computing and Outreach.
