The following INBRE undergraduate fellowships are open to any University of Wyoming (Laramie campus) SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR or SENIOR student interested in biomedical research.

This summer we are offering UW INBRE fellowships to rising junior and senior STEM majors in Honors/Secondary Education. Announcement flyer for INBRE fellowship for Honors/Secondary Ed STEM majors. The Idea Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) program is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). Each Fall, Spring, and Summer semester, the Wyoming INBRE program funds about 10 UW undergraduates wishing to engage in biomedical research. Research hours must be completed during the award period.

Fellowship applicants must all submit research proposals that deal exclusively with biomedically related questions and experimental research that seek to improve human health.

  • FALL only fellowship: $800 (80 hours at $10/hour)
  • SPRING only fellowship: $800 (80 hours at $10/hour)
  • Combined Fall-Spring Fellowship: $1600 (160 hours at $10/hour)
  • SUMMER fellowship for 2020 will be $5400 (450 hours at $12/hour)

SUBMIT a fellowship application and faculty letters for UW students:

  1. FIRST, open and read the INBRE undergraduate fellowship APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS. This guides you on what to include in your resume, abstract/project summary, and research proposal.  Because of the COVID-19 situation, proposals are now due TUESDAY APRIL 7, 2020 no later than 5 p.m. MST.  We cannot consider incomplete applications
  2. Complete the fellowship application here: UW INBRE UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION.  Upload required pdf documents on the form: Résumé, Academic Transcripts, Abstract/Project Summary and Research Proposal. Please label all files with your name!
  3. Complete the separate online application for an INBRE fellowship for Secondary Education/Honors students in STEM majors here.
  4. Request your letters from faculty early(!). SUBMIT FACULTY LETTERS ONLINE HERE.
Letter of Commitment from your research mentor- This letter should detail the mentor's willingness to supervise the research, describe the expected learning experiences, and describe any funds/facilities available to support the student’s research.
Two letters of Recommendation from UW and/or Wyoming Community College faculty.
