How To Visit

American Heritage Center

The reading room is open for walk-in research however, an appointment is highly encouraged. For walk-in researchers, it will typically be a 30-minute wait time for materials to be pulled but with an appointment, your materials can be ready upon your arrival! To make an appointment, and cut down on your wait time, please follow the steps below. We can't wait to research with you!
We are closed on UW holidays.

1. Let us know when you are coming and request materials

Please email us or call us 307-766-3756  to let us know when you’ plan to visit. To have material pre-pulled, be prepared to provide the collection name, collection number, and box numbers that you would like to have ready upon your arrival. The main reading room is open 9am-4pm (MST) on weekdays only. An archivist is stationed in the room to assist you with your visit and answer questions.

2. Complete Patron Registration Form, in-advance or while on-site

This patron information form can be completed  in advance and emailed back to us,  or brought on-site. You may also wait until your visit to complete this paperwork.

3. Review Safety Guidelines

  • If you are not feeling well, or suspect that you may have been exposed, please stay home - we will be happy to reschedule your research appointment when you are feeling better.
  • Social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged.
  • We are frequently sanitizing tables, copiers/scanners, chair arms, and all other high-touch surfaces.
  • Disposable gloves, disinfecting wipes, handwashing stations, and hand sanitizer will be provided for researchers.
