High School Model Arab League

High School Model Arab League Competition

February 15-17, 2024 at The University of Wyoming

Register Here Now!!!

The Arabic & Middle East North Africa Studies program from the University of Wyoming intends to welcome high school students in February 2024 across the West to come to participate in a High School Model Arab League Rocky Mountain Regional Competition. Similar to Model UN, MAL allows students to take the role of a member state in the Arab League and discuss national diplomacy and regional issues of the Middle East and Northern Africa. MAL is a multi-regional model competition in which students from across the world learn about and compete as representatives from the 22-member states of the Arab League. Student participants are encouraged to use the experience to hone their skills in public speaking and diplomacy with the primary goal of learning about the politics and history of the Arab world.

There are 14 University and 5 High School Model Arab League simulations across the country. Our conference will take place here at the University of Wyoming, hoping to pull in high school students from across the state to allow them to improve their public speaking, debate, and consensus-building skill while also gaining an in-depth understanding of the world's oldest regional body and deepening their knowledge of the history, culture, religion, economics, and politics. Through participation in the program, students will learn about the politics and history of the Arab world and the art of diplomacy and public speech. MAL helps prepare high school students to be knowledgeable, well-trained, and influential citizens as well as civic and public affairs leaders.

If you are interested in learning more about how to participate, reach out to us at tnielse5@uwyo.edu.
